New bag: The Orla Kiely Ivy

Posted on: Monday, November 12, 2012

After years of lugging the same bag around with me I’d finally reached satchel fatigue. Last week I took to eBay to see if I could find any bargains, and came across an Orla Kiely Ivy bag. It had quite a few wear and tear marks but I ended up buying for under £100 – a total steal. It’s real leather and very well-made so hopefully it’ll last me a long time.

Gifted: basket bag

Posted on: Wednesday, August 1, 2012

A few weeks ago I got a surprise parcel from Barcelona’s La Roca Village, packed full of summer essentials. I’ve not been to Barcelona in years but looking through the goodies – all summer themed – really made me want to go there again soon.

Out of all the things in the parcel, I instantly love this summer basket bag by Textura. It’s roomy and easy to carry so I’ve used it lots already for trips to the library or to carry my food shopping.

It really reminded me of a bag I’d seen in a picture of the wonderful Catherine Deneuve in St. Tropez in 1965. I love her beach style, complete with captain’s cap!

Dr Martens for Liberty London

The Docs for Liberty range has to be the best satchel collection ever. Number one is my favourite, better start saving up. All available exclusively at Liberty’s from £145

New find: vintage doctor’s bag

Posted on: Monday, December 5, 2011

New in the series shitty pictures taken in the office on my phone: my new bag.
It’s a vintage doctor’s bag from one of my favourite shops – Hunky Dory – on Brick Lane.
Perfect size to carry all my stuff around and with both handles and an across the body strap – faultless!

Style High Club likes: Ona leather camera bag

Posted on: Wednesday, November 16, 2011

I think my quest to find a bag big enough to hold my camera, laptop and assorted crap has finally come to an end. Well sort of. I really love the Venice leather camera bag by Ona. It’s hand-crafted with adjustable interior departments and comes in four lovely colours – I rather like it in stone or camel. The downside? It’s $329, which considering it’s handmade is a very fair price. Better start saving now.

Jacobs, stop tempting me: this time – the Bianca Jane bag

Posted on: Thursday, February 24, 2011

God damn you Marc Jacobs and your ridiculously amazing bag designs. This time I’m seriously tempted by the Bianca Jane on a Chain messenger clutch bag.

It’s £220 so nearly affordable. If I start saving now.

Bag upgrade

My usual work bag – a vintage 70s messenger one – fell apart last night, a real shame, it was big and roomy and perfect for all the crap I carry around. But meet its replacement, this yellow vintage satchel. It’s much smaller and has forced me to dump things I don’t really need. I’m sure my back and shoulders will thank me.

Wanderlust

I really love these miniature Liberty Print suitcases (£60), which, sadly, have been out of stock for ages. Otherwise one might have landed under my Christmas Tree.

New obsession: Mysuelly

Posted on: Wednesday, November 3, 2010

Oh those French know how to make bags. Point in case: new label Mysuelly. Not my kind of budget but this has so far not stopped me from hanging out in  Urban Outfitters where they are stocked, pretending I own one.

Bag lady

I need a new bag. One big enough to lug all my random crap around when I go to work. My current work bag is a vintage satchel so I’d like to get something different this time. Perhaps this black and white one from Orla Kiely (£210)?

Or perhaps this tapestry one from Topshop (£30)? More my price range… I have been looking for vintage bags too of course, but can’t seem to find one that’s big enough and not a satchel.

Just bought: vintage Sixties travel case

I found this red Sixties case at the Clerkenwell Vintage Fashion Fair last week. A bargain for £15!

Tres belle indeed

Posted on: Wednesday, July 21, 2010

I’ve always loved BoBelle’s amazing bags & purses. They are both eco-friendly and ethical – still a rarity even these days. The new range is out now, and the Melissa eal skin handbag (£115.00) is on top of my wish list.
