Keep warm with a hot dog
Posted on: Monday, November 19, 2012
Before you go holding on to hotdog sandwiches to keep your fingers warm this winter, consider these fab sausage dog mittens by People Tree. Fair trade wool eco credentials plus cute wursthund makes this one a winner to me.
Tres belle indeed

I’ve always loved BoBelle’s amazing bags & purses. They are both eco-friendly and ethical – still a rarity even these days. The new range is out now, and the Melissa eal skin handbag (£115.00) is on top of my wish list.

I seriously love German designer Erika Hendrix’ SS10 collection. Her fairy tale-inspired clothes are handmade and sweatshop-free, so all the better!

Resistance is futile

I just couldn’t resist getting a satchel from the fabulous Cambridge Satchel Company. I decided on their smallest, handbag-sized one in deep purple and had my initials embossed.
London Fashion Week discovery part 2 – Minna
Posted on: Wednesday, March 3, 2010
In the labyrinthine corridors of Esthetica, Minna was the first designer I came across as I embarked on London Fashion Week. And what a find she is. Her current collection is already well worth talking about with its whimsical, lacey summer dresses (the Talana is a favourite of mine) but her AW2010 line just blew me away.
Much darker and more grown up expect black and teal coloured dresses inspired by the day-time glamour of 40s Hollywood. There was a silky empire-waisted, floor-length gown that really stood out but my favourite – which I have been obsessing about ever since – was a brilliant black dress with white collar and cuffs – oh so Joan Crawford.
London Fashion Week discovery – Tara Starlet
Posted on: Tuesday, February 23, 2010
While wondering through Esthetica – the eco fashion section at London Fashion Week, which was hidden away in the basements of Somerset House for some ridiculous reason - I couldn’t help but notice London-based label Tara Starlet with their bunting and 40s style stall.
I’ve come across the mother and daughter team before, namely in the lower ground floor section of the Oxford Street Topshop where they are being stocked, but their very pin-up style blouses and bottoms have never really convinced me. I was all the more surprised to see their AW2010 collection full of amazing 40s skirt suits and swing dresses, all made of vintage fabrics sustainably here in London.
I can’t wait to get my hands on the military style ‘Loves Army skirt suit’!
Paper chain

I’m not normally a fan of gold jewellery but this brass necklace in the design of a paper chain is amazing. It’s by ethical company Made so well worth the £60.

Simple shoes?
Posted on: Thursday, December 10, 2009
A while ago eco shoe company Simple Shoes got in touch and offered me a free pair of shoes. Hell, I wasn’t going to say no to that and chose the fabulous Pinwheel in black, it’ll be perfect for all the swing dancing I am planning to do next year.
I was ever so slightly confused when I opened the parcel and found one Pinwheel and a non-matching shoe. The included instructions explained that I’d have to go on a wild treasure hunt via Twitter to locate my other half, which had been sent to another, unknown blogger. I like games.
As it turned out the fabulous Queen Mary from Kingdom of Style was my shoe swapping partner, and now, after a quick exchange, I have a lovely matching pair.
I rather like the idea of connecting bloggers through a social network game, beats the usual soulless ‘here’s your freebie’. Although it would have been nice to be matched with someone a bit closer to home as London – Glasgow was just a tad too far to meet for a coffee.
Reader giveaway: get your mitts on a lovely keyring
Posted on: Friday, September 11, 2009
I’m a big fan of BoBelle and their lovely purses and bags. What makes them so special is not only the vintage-inspired design, but also that they are using luxurious eel skin leather (a bringer of luck and love according to Greek mythology), which is a by-product of the food industry in Korea. Also, all their products have been fairly traded and are hand made.
My personal favourites from their current collection are:

Aphrodite leather wallet

Athena purse

Hera heart purse (how cute!)

Artemis clutch bag
Hestia key ring.
If you fancy getting yourself this lovely turquoise blue Hestia key ring, so named after the Greek goddess of domesticity, all you need to do is sign up to my twitter here and put yourself down for the BoBelle newsletter here.
Everyone who signs up to follow Style High Club on Twitter between today and next week Thursday (17 September 2009) will be entered into a lucky dip for a chance to win.
Good luck everyone!
Two words I love: YSL and vintage

This week sees the launch of Yves Saint Laurent’s ‘New Vintage’ capsule collection at Barney’s store in New York. It’s a limited edition collection which uses left-over fabrics from past seasons.
The ‘New Vintage’ range has been designed by Stefano Pilati based on their most iconic pieces, so expect YSL classics such as a Le Smoking tuxedo suit in a distressed Khaki cotton twill.
