A few days ago lingerie label Playful Promises got in touch with me about their retro, pin-up inspired lingerie. To be honest I’m always a bit dubious about retro lingerie cause all too often it’s less Vargas girl and more Christina Aguilera in Lady Marmelade. Not a look I’m going for. So when browsing the Playful Promises online shop I was positively surprised to find some really lovely sets and knickers. The Ava set of bra, knickers and girdle (see below in red) has just landed on my desk – and feels and looks fabulous, so much so I can’t wait to wear it out. I also like that unlike other shops (yes, that’s you Topshop…) they’ve got a good range of sizes from a xs to xl and A size to DD.

I also really like their knickers gift sets that come in a limited edition tin. My favourite is – no surprise, I mean it has a bow on it – the cream and black Kitty brief.

I seriously wanted to be a nun until I was about twelve. Then I realised that I lack the very basic prerequisite - religious faith. While I now follow another calling, my love for black-and white high-collar dresses remains intact.

While I have tons of ‘nun dresses’ I’m really excited about the latest collection by fabulous lingerie label LouLou Loves You, which features this very demure cami & knickers set in black and white. Hallelujah!

I like lingerie that’s either over the top retro or very simple and puritan. German label Wundervoll falls into the latter category with their no frills range of black and white high waisted knickers and bras.

St Tropez Leisure do absolutely amazing underwear, just the right kind of frilly, just sweet enough, just naughty enough, a perfect balance.

I just found this on Topshop. It’s quite Dolce&Gabbana gay sailor, especially as it says ‘Ahoi’ on the back of the knickers… But I still quite like it.

I really like retro, 1950s pin-up lingerie. To me, it’s so much sexier than any of the modern day underwear, strings and all. Agathe from Style Bytes recently posted some lovely vintage underwear she found. I normally shop for underwear on the highstreet and especially Topshop do nice, vintage looking sets of bras and knickers. If I was rich, I’d head to Agent Provocateur…However I also really like Pandoraschoice, who do fantastic pin-up style underwear and stockings.
