Weekend round-up: Churchill War Rooms and Penny Dreadful Vintage launch

This weekend was rather vintage-themed. On Friday evening I went to the Churchill War Rooms for a special late night opening. The War Rooms, which served Churchill and his cabinet as shelter during the London Blitz, are well worth visiting but what made Friday’s event extra special was a Forties boudoir where you could have your hair and make-up done and find out more about war-time fashion. The whole thing was beautifully put together by the girls of the Vintage Mafia, who did an amazing job styling victory rolls and red lips.

Then on Saturday I went to the pimms-soaked opening of the Penny Dreadful Vintage Boutique in Hampstead. Margaret, who has put together a little boutique in her home, has a fantastic eye for vintage, so much so that I’m dreading going round there as I always end up buying something. Do make an appointment to see her, her shop is crammed full of mint 20s to 80s vintage delights.
